CENTRO DE SALUD TRENCADORS

This project is located in El Arenal de Llucmajor, a place with a rich history and unique challenges. Positioned at the intersection of three distinct environments: a hotel area with temporary and intensive users of natural resources and services; a residential area with continuous use of services; and a natural environment that, according to planning, is expected to develop with additional facilities. We aim to address these challenges and honor the rich history of the site.

The design focuses on sustainability and resource management, consciously using local materials.

Our project proposes the construction of a building using marés stone, extracted directly from the site. Although the use of marés is often perceived as a manual and slow process, our goal is to change this perception and demonstrate its effectiveness in modern construction.

The marés will be applied in three different textures:

  • As part of the structure, in 60x30x10 cm pieces for walls and pillars.
  • In 100x30x10 cm pieces to form lattices that help control light in the interior courtyard.
  • As gravel for the roof and as a base for paving.

With this approach, we manage to use 40% of the marés volume generated during excavation, thereby reducing the environmental footprint of the construction. This represents a step toward sustainable and efficient building practices, maximizing the use of available natural resources.
